Dangerous Streets

Location~Brooklyn
Time~10:00 P.M.

A young teen walked down the street bored out of her mind. She had already pickpocketed a bunch of people and stashed the loot away in the warehouse she was staying in but the night was still young. There were less people on the streets at this point mainly to avoid any gang members that prowled the streets. Still the girl wasn't afraid of running into any danger she was quick and as long as she had an escape route she would most likely be fine.

Still she wasn't in a good area and if she wasn't careful she would find herself in trouble. What kind of trouble she didn't know but she would cross that bridge when she came to it. Although she was getting dangerously close to some Purple Dragons a gang everyone in their right mind would fear and stay clear from. Mel showed no fear she was just passing through and wasn't causing any trouble.

A middle aged man was chased out of the shadows and appeared on the streets from seemingly nowhere. He was running, frantic and desperate. He spotted the girl walking causally in front of him. A quick look around confirmed that she was alone, so he sprinted forward with an out stretched arm and snatched her by the waist, pulling her with ease into the nearest empty alley. "Don't move," the man threatened in a husky whisper, his breath heavily scented with cigarette and tobacco. His leather clothing and tattooed arms suggested that he was indeed part of the Purple dragons.  “I gotta knife, ya hear?! I got a knife!”

The gang member’s voice rose to a high yell, as if he was addressing someone else nearby. They weren’t alone, and seconds after he threatened the girl, the dark shadows shifted against the brick wall. A pair of milk colored white eyes, which belonged to the hunched shadow, stared intensely back.
“Don’t hurt her.”

“Then give up your weapons.” The PD warned, his grip tightened on the hostage. A silence followed, the sharp eyes slanted slightly before two long swords skid across the ground to rest by the PD’s feet.

" Hey let me go!" Mel yelled trying to squirm loose from the man or least get her own switchblade not that he knew that she had a weapon. Still he had grabbed the wrong girl to use as hostage seeing as he was fighting some mysterious guy in the shadows that had swords. And his threat didn't mean much to her because she didn't feel a knife on any part of her otherwise she wouldn't be struggling.

The man was caught off guard from the sudden squirming-the girl was strong! And that was all Leo needed to spring out and take action. The shadowed silluette was on the PD in seconds, his grip torn from the girl. Something hard slammed him to the concrete below, and that thing...the freak holding him down was no letting him get back up.

The gang member wasn't able to get a good look of his attackers face, it was to dark and the guy was to fast. The scuffle quickly ended with the Purple Dragon unconscious on the ground, not dead, but left with a few broken ribs and a bloody nose. The shadowy stranger who gave up his blades to save the save the girl was bent over the unconscious man, checking his pockets and coat, then shoved the body so he layed sitting up, back against a dumpster. As for him...

Leo was left panting from the workout, his eyes scanning the girl for any injuries she might of received. When he was sure she was unharmed, the ninja backed up to hide in the shadows once more. "Are you alright?"

" I'm fine he didn't think I would call his bluff. But who are you and why are you in the shadows?" Mel asked him as she got up dusting herself off. He wasn't a member from another gang otherwise she would be dead but he wasn't a cop either. She was pretty sure superheros didn't hide and they those speeches about saving damsels and stuff. So this guy was a mystery besides he had swords who in New York had swords?

He shifted in the darkness, not planning on revealing himself just yet. For someone who was obviously young; this girl acted as if the previous events happened to her on a daily basis. "You don't need to see what I look like."
He realized how that sounded and quickly changed the subject. "Do you know that man? Have you been in trouble before?"

" And why not? Not even Batman remained in the dark." Mel pointed out while also going off to find more crimes to stop.

" No I don't know him it's just something I learned when it comes to the streets. It keeps me alive they don't like it when someone struggles." She replied trying not to reveal much about her own life herself. Unfortunately it was kinda obvious what her life was to anyone that wasn't blind.

"Well, I'm not batman. Besides, even he had some sort of identity to with-hold until the time was right, it's a respect thing." Leonardo remained still, watching the young woman carefully.

"They? It seems someone has some sort of bounty on you if you step out of line? But you seem to be able to handle yourself well... and what if you were out numbered?" The blue clad seemed to be showing a tad of interest in this girls conversation, however this was the protective, honorable side of him. He was willing to help.

" No bounty just some gang members that think they will have an easy victim. I have my own weapon and my speed and know escape routes that a lot of men can't get through. Besides I'm fourteen so I don't have anything even though they think I do." Mel said with a shrug not to worried about getting attacked she was used to it even though she shouldn't be.
